Directions
- 1.Name and describe each shape before tracing: "A square has 4 equal sides and 4 corners."
- 2.Trace each shape and color it.
- 3.Complete the shape hunt: find and tally each shape in the picture.
- 4.For pattern strips, identify the repeating unit before extending.
- 5.Create an original pattern using the blank strip.

Shape recognition is most powerful when connected to the real world. After the worksheet, go on a shape hunt in your home or neighborhood — finding real circles, rectangles, and triangles makes the abstract concept concrete.
