Materials Needed

  • •Printed practice pages
  • •Pencil
  • •Optional: small counting objects

Directions

  1. 1.Count the objects on each page aloud, touching each one.
  2. 2.Write the numeral that matches the quantity.
  3. 3.For matching pages, draw a line from the numeral to the correct group of objects.
  4. 4.For "how many?" pages, count and circle the correct numeral.
  5. 5.Practice writing each numeral in the air before writing on paper.

Parent Teaching Tip

Cardinality — understanding that the last number said when counting tells "how many" — is the most important counting concept. After counting a group, ask "How many?" If your child counts again instead of saying the last number, cardinality is still developing.
