  • β€’Pencil
  • β€’Crayons
  • β€’Objects to investigate (fruit, fabric, leaves, etc.)

Directions

  1. 1.Choose one object to investigate per session.
  2. 2.Work through each sense systematically: look, listen, touch, smell (taste only if safe).
  3. 3.Record observations using descriptive words and drawings.
  4. 4.Compare observations with a partner or family member.
  5. 5.Ask: "What surprised you? What do you want to investigate next?"

Parent Teaching Tip

The detective framing makes observation feel like a mission rather than a worksheet. Lean into it: give your child a magnifying glass, use detective vocabulary ("evidence," "clue," "investigation"), and celebrate every discovery.
